The Essential Navigation and Seamanship Skills is a great introduction to navigation and safety awareness. It is a good basis for new or inexperienced skippers and crew who don’t yet feel they are ready for the Day Skipper course.
The course for those new to skippering and those who already skipper but want a thorough grounding in theory and navigation for cruising. This course is recognised by the Danish Maritime Agency as preparation for the Danish certificate of competency and is also preparation for the RYA Day Skipper practical course and exam.
Prepare for Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence exam with a Yachtmaster Theory Course and exam. Study wherever your are and progress at your own pace with dedicated instructor support with Skippers Online.
Sailing First is run by sailors living in Copenhagen who are passionate about sailing. We have been teaching sailing for many years. In 2020 we set up Sailing First as an RYA Recognised Training Centre in Copenhagen to help sailors living in Denmark get access to the international recognition and quality provided by RYA English language courses. Sailing First is not geared to making profit. The sprit of the set up is to re-invest income in improving safety at sea, building trainers skills, competencies and sailng experience.
Sailing First focuses on providing RYA Day Skipper Theory courses and Essential Navigation and Seamanship Skills courses. Some courses are also offered on-line. We also partner with other RYA training centres to provide the practical RYA courses.
The RYA is a national body for recreational sailing and powerboating in the UK. They provide a Worldwide recognition and licensing structure for over 100 different courses, through more than 2,400 Recognised Training Centres around the world. They also provide extensive materials to support courses, both in print and digital formats. The RYA Training Centre is only recognised to deliver shore-based theory courses. However we are also very active in the Copenhagen sailing club scene teaching and coaching sailors.
